About The Beyond Recovery Project
Our mission: to inspire and empower brain tumour survivors through their recovery and beyond.
Created by brain tumour survivor, Sara Crosland, The Beyond Recovery Project is about bringing together others on the same or similar journey, creating a βsafeβ space and sense of community, where survivors can share experiences and discover how to push beyond the physical and psychological barriers they face together.
What We Do
Harnessing the often underestimated healing power of nature, many of our activities take place outdoors.

What People Say
“Me and my 10 year old son spent a day in the forest with Sara and had an amazing day!
Davey loved den building but his favourite thing was the hammock!
Sara’s knowledge and patience was amazing… Exploring the forest and understanding where to look for signs of forest dwellers, we were in our element.
This goes down as one of our favourite days out this summer!
The best therapy is talking to someone who understands your fears, anxiety and your whole life changing…”

βI became aware of The Beyond Recovery Project at an Acoustic Neuroma support group, and subsequently put myself forward as a walk leader and have helped with one to date.
I had read about the more adventurous pursuits on the website and decided to enlist for the Morocco trek in November 2025.
I have recently returned from a first training weekend for the trek, where I met Sara and other participants for the first time.
The training was meticulously organised and the reception warm and welcoming. I found the experiences of others humbling and was inspired by how the The Beyond Recovery Project had helped them move to the next stage and the renewed confidence it had instilled.
A great organisation which I hope can continue to expand to help other brain injury sufferers.β
